This complication of sepsis in toe gangrene is encountered very frequently while on duty and often necessitates urgent toe amputation. Especially in the presence of systemic signs of infection, one should not wait until the next day; even if a vascular imaging and reconstruction is planned, the infected toe should be urgently removed beforehand as a focus of infection and source of sepsis.
