In ascending (ascendent) thrombophlebitis of the great saphenous vein, the saphenofemoral junction is often not crossed and conservative therapy is possible. If the junction is involved or crossed, close sonographic monitoring or surgical intervention is necessary to prevent the serious complication of pulmonary embolism.

In ascending (ascendent) thrombophlebitis of the great saphenous vein, the saphenofemoral junction is often not crossed and conservative therapy is possible. If the junction is involved or crossed, close sonographic monitoring or surgical intervention is necessary to prevent the serious complication of pulmonary embolism.
