The second order partial differential equations are those that are essential for applications. We can only provide a tiny insight into the extensive theory of these differential equations here. Analytical solution schemes, as we considered in the last chapter for the first order equations, also exist for second order equations. However, these are considerably more complicated; we refrain from these representations and only provide systematic solution methods for specific differential equations in the following chapters.
