Philosophy
摘要
When discussing the topic of philosophy in Tocqueville’s work, one can do this from at least three perspectives. Firstly, one can ask whether Tocqueville saw himself as a philosopher and therefore his works as philosophical works (Sect. 81.1). Secondly, one can ask whether an implicit philosophy can be identified in Tocqueville’s work, where the word “philosophy” is understood to mean a more or less coherent ensemble of general basic premises that structure and determine the author’s thinking and can therefore be considered as the basic structure of his worldview (Sect. 81.2). And thirdly, the question arises as to what Tocqueville explicitly said about philosophy and the philosophers (Sect. 81.3).
