Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)
摘要
The philosopher and mathematician Pascal is among those thinkers who have most deeply influenced Tocqueville, not only in content but also stylistically. His friend Louis de Kergorlay informs him in a letter from 1834 that he should take Montesquieu (see Chap. 36 ), Rousseau (see Chap. 39 ) and Pascal as “masters” and as stylistic models and points out to him that he already sporadically adopts their style.
