The aim of this article is to demonstrate the necessity of a multiprofessional approach to the care of people with chronic impairments. To this end, multiprofessional collaboration is explained, and its framework conditions and limitations are illustrated using the phenomena of boundary work, profession-specific language, the programmatic nature of assistance, and expert-layperson communication.
