In contrast to chemistry and other subfields of physics, we define a particle to be a neighbouring group of molecules that move at a certain average velocity at any given time. In an idealised form, we reduce them to a point, the trajectory of which we follow. Now, the concept of the material derivative of a physical quantity is introduced. The main statements of the chapter are the continuity equation and the transport theorem, which are proven.

摘要

In contrast to chemistry and other subfields of physics, we define a particle to be a neighbouring group of molecules that move at a certain average velocity at any given time. In an idealised form, we reduce them to a point, the trajectory of which we follow. Now, the concept of the material derivative of a physical quantity is introduced. The main statements of the chapter are the continuity equation and the transport theorem, which are proven.
