Einleitung
摘要
This book aims to deconstruct three binaries: dystopian/utopian, human voice/animal voice, soundscape/silence. The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic inspired the editors to systematically deal with the auditive dimensions of dystopian imaginations in the arts, combining music research with the interdisciplinary field of human-animal studies. In this context, the voice, human as well as other-than-human, constitutes itself in phenomenology, aesthetics, and political theory. The volume‘s chapters center around voices beyond the human (in the context of pandemics as well as the biblical apocalypse), lost animal voices, soundscapes that are shaped by non-human animals, situated dystopian soundscapes, and musical thinking itself as dystopian.
