The conclusion summarizes the key theses of the book. Migration is an exceptionally rich field of study for narrative researchers because it is imbued, motivated, and shaped by imagination. The work of the imagination and its collective imaginaries, in turn, are built around self-narrations of societies and their perceptions of the global. Acknowledging the role of language and storytelling in migration processes offers new perspectives on how migration decisions are taken. Even more, a narratological analysis discloses how migration is not an individual endeavour but an overall experience of whole societies. The fact that there is an elsewhere, influences the very way in which life, future, and possibility are spoken about in Cameroon. In that way, migration narratives bear witness to the realities of global inequalities and can be read as a form of social commentary which is often overheard.
