A Black Hermione and The House Elf Revolution – Rassismuskritik im digitalen Schreibraum am Beispiel von Harry Potter-Fanfictions
摘要
Fanfiction authors engage in the creation of prequels, sequels, and spin-offs, while also developing new character relationships and dialogues. This creative practice not only challenges conventional notions of authorship within the realm of digital and participatory writing but also interrogates prevailing assumptions regarding white normativity. This chapter analyzes selected works of Harry Potter fanfiction that shift perspectives to highlight the experiences of Black minor characters and characters of color, as well as instances where originally white characters are reimagined as non-white through the practice known as racebending. Through an examination of racial themes in the widely acclaimed Harry Potter series, this chapter explores how fanfiction can serve as a critique of racism by recontextualizing narratives and constructing alternative narrative worlds that exist beyond the confines of white normative frameworks.
