Let There Be Light: The Only Genuinely Green Chapter
摘要
For most parts of this book, we discuss the most popular model organism of biomedical research—the human body itself. Teaching the biochemistry of the human body is a biomedical necessity… And it comes in handy, because we don’t have to deal with all the complicated biosynthesis pathways of individual amino acids and cofactors, and so on, and so forth. To understand where an essential amino acid or a vitamin is from, it is sufficient to label these and similar compounds as “essential” and to remind ourselves to maintain a “good” diet, to take in sufficient quantities of this stuff. Job done. What remains are glycolysis, Krebs cycle, et al.; and most of what we have learned about these applies to all organisms, anyway.
