Introduction
摘要
As a measure of movement over time – that is, as a means of temporal regulation, balance or proportion – concepts of rhythm equally pertain to verse and prose. Metrics and cadence, plotting, sequencing, and enjambment, repetition and variation, prolepsis and analepsis are among the many rhythmic devices that shape not only words and thoughts but also sounds, images, and gestures, both in terms of artistic expression and in terms of material determinants.
