Building on the relational approach to engaged literature developed in the previous chapters and drawing on Sarah Ahmed’s claim that all of Audre Lorde’s writing is black feminist poetry, this chapter argues that Audre Lorde’s Berlin is a part of this writing. It proposes a view of Lorde’s Berlin as a place into which she inscribed herself, both through her life and her work, and through the extensive recording and careful achieving of them by her long-time Berlin-based collaborator Dagmar Schultz. Centering in the documentary film, Audre Lorde: The Berlin Years (2012), made by Schultz based on this archive, this chapter envisions Lorde’s Berlin as the dense and dynamic web of relations woven through her life and work at this place, often in front of a running camera, extended in and through Schultz’s work—and still being written today.
