Ethical Boundaries of Research Freedom
摘要
Freedom of research is just a special case of freedom in general. Taking morality to mean guiding one’s life according to a certain image of the world (as one wants it to be) naturally limits one’s freedom. In standard morality, freedom finds its limit where beings are involved that are capable of being harmed, which is no surprise, following from the very concept of morality. Surprisingly, taking freedom as a guide for one’s own life likewise limits freedom.
