A Label-Free Future: digid’s BioMEMS Platform Enables Diagnostics Beyond the Laboratory
摘要
digid combines MEMS technology, molecular functionalization, nano-strain-sensor technology, and AI-driven data analysis to a unique label-free direct assay technology called Cantisense™. The measurement principle is based on cantilevers (micro-bending beams) which are functionalized on their top side with an analyte-specific detection constituent, e.g., antibodies. Specific binding between the immobilized antibodies and their respective antigens leads to bending of the cantilever that generates a measurable electrical signal transduced by digid’s nano-strain sensor. The analysis of the time course of the electrical signal by sophisticated AI methods allow the detection of the presence and concentration of the analyte with a sensitivity and a specificity of up to 100%. The measurement does not require a laboratory environment as it is performed within minutes directly at the point of care. For various analytes, one identical chip layout is used, leading to a highly scalable industrialization. Functionalization of the cantilevers can be easily adapted to different target molecules. Several chips can be combined to a multiplex setup, characterizing a single sample within minutes for a multitude of analytes. Altogether, Cantisense™ is a cost-effective platform with a modular structure that makes it applicable to a variety of markets such as medical diagnostics, food safety, or environmental monitoring.
