This chapter describes Experiment 2, which examines the influence of the lexico-semantic factor role noun type (i.e., occupational vs. non-occupational nouns) on whether a masculine role noun is interpreted generically or specifically. Section 5.1 sets out the rationale behind Experiment 2 and points out the differences between Experiments 1 and 2. Experiment 2’s research aims and hypotheses, its methodology, procedure and materials are presented in Sects. 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.1.3 and 5.1.4 respectively.
