This chapter discusses the robotic-assisted treatment of lumbar hernias; as these are relatively rare diagnoses, the surgical procedures for lumbar incisional hernias are described together with those for primary lumbar hernias. The chapter summarizes the essential endoscopic anatomy in new illustrations. Indications, contraindications and positioning of the patient are discussed. The surgical technique is described in detail, sensible postoperative recommendations are discussed and the results of the literature are presented. This chapter has an appendix with a video on robotic-assisted treatment of a recurrent lumbar hernia.
