The increasing number of publications on robot-assisted surgery of ventral abdominal wall hernias shows that the use of this technique has increased exponentially in recent years. This makes it even more important that the first guidelines refer specifically to this topic. On the other hand, it can be assumed that many of the general recommendations for the minimally invasive treatment of ventral hernias are also of value for robot-assisted surgery.
