In this chapter, the research aims introduced here are expanded on more concretely, building on the theoretical grounding from Chap. 2. A novel af-fordance framework is developed and explored (Sect. 3.2). With this, the hy-potheses and conjectures for the three steps of the empirical analysis can be established: the influence of device affordances on microlinguistic features (Sect. 3.3); the interaction of device affordances and other contextual factors (Sect. 3.4); and inter-individual variation (Sect. 3.5).
