General relativity is an extension of special relativity that allows for the description of gravitation. This required a completely new approach. The starting point for the development of general relativity were Einstein’s considerations about the equivalence of inert and gravitational mass. By these considerations conclusions could be drawn with regard to the properties of gravitation. We will retrace these lines of thought and their consequences in this chapter.

摘要

General relativity is an extension of special relativity that allows for the description of gravitation. This required a completely new approach. The starting point for the development of general relativity were Einstein’s considerations about the equivalence of inert and gravitational mass. By these considerations conclusions could be drawn with regard to the properties of gravitation. We will retrace these lines of thought and their consequences in this chapter.
