The tradition of timber construction extends far back to the origins of mankind’s history. The high degree of wood-building knowledge which is reflected in the historical treatment of wood in construction is most remarkable and gives us an insight into the long-standing experience and building tradition in timber architecture. The knowledge associated to this building material can still be gleaned from the traditional wooden structures that have survived.
