Furthermore, their stereoconfiguration is a handle that allows for subsequent diastereo- and enantioselective conversions to proceed. For this reason, it is not surprising that in addition to a wide range of olefin derivatizations, an equivalent effort has gone into accessing alkenes not only efficiently, but diastereoselectively as well.
