摘要

Since 2005, the academic discipline of missiology has been defined in the German-speaking discourse as Intercultural Theology. In the transitional phase of the discipline, there are calls for an iconic turn. The modern transformation history of – predominantly occidental – Christianity holds the contours of an iconic turn in Intercultural Theology. Through the prism of mission history, an aesthetic paradigm appears in processes of translation and appropriation that are part of the global history of the spread of modern Christianity. In this respect, the results of mission studies flow into the discourses of Intercultural Theology.
