Postbuckling of Laminates

ThisPostbuckling chapter is dedicated to the postbuckling analysis of laminated plates, focussing on the presentation of the fundamentals and the provision of closed-form analytical and semi-analytical computational methods. For orthotropic laminates under compression and shear under different types of boundary conditions, closed-form analytical approaches are presented, which can be used to treat the postbuckling behaviour of such laminates in a computationally efficient way. Subsequently, a semi-analytical method based on series expansions for the state variables in the postbuckling state is presented, which can be used to treat more complex problems. The chapter concludes with a computational method for analysing the postbuckling behaviour of shear-deformable laminates under compressive load in the context of First-Order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) and Third-Order Shear Deformation Theory (TSDT).
