We, the aid organization ResQship with the observation sailing ship “Nadir”, are on the move in the Mediterranean Sea, somewhere between Sicily, Malta, and Africa. Our sailing ship is more of an observation and documentation ship than a rescue ship. We identify refugee boats in distress, try to help on the spot, possibly also take people on board, but always send a distress call to the large civilian rescue ships or the Italian or Maltese coast guard. We can temporarily take up to 80 people on board, but cannot transport them for an extended period.
