This chapter has mainly the purpose to summarize arguments that are in contradiction to the hypothesis of CE. This intention is not the consequence of a negative attitude of the author toward the potential existence of a CE, but it is thought as a counterbalance against the numerous overoptimistic and overinterpreting books and review articles that were published in the past. Furthermore, open questions and problems that have rarely or never been addressed should be formulated. The author has a neutral stance, and the words of Roger Bacon (Chap. 2 ) and the words of Thomas Huxley (s. above) are his guidelines.
