The comic series about the 11-year-old character Yasmina addresses various aspects of work that are linked to both her growing up and the everyday life of the adult characters. At the centre is the subject area of cooking, consumption and food production, which brings together a micro and a macro level. On the one hand, the comics focus on an individual micro level that reflects the family structure and the distribution of roles within it. In addition to the specific gender inscriptions in the distribution of roles within the small family, the comic also shows how the family micro-level is linked to a social macro-level. Again and again, it is also about social positioning in the forms of labour. The difference category of class plays a role from an intersectional perspective, as does race. At the macro level, the question of nutrition and food production continues to be a central aspect, which goes hand in hand with the ecological dimension. The article traces these different levels of labour.
