Potter wasps truly are master builders. They erect their pot-shaped constructions out of clay on stones, stalks or tree trunks, into which they lay an egg on the back wall with their tapered rear end. To prevent the baby wasps from getting the munchies, mama wasp catches suitably slender caterpillars, stuffs them into the opening and then walls up the nest.
