On the first day of July, I spotted and photographed yet another of nature’s marvels in our garden. I had planted a trough with white stonecrop (Sedum alba) in the hope of attracting the Mountain Apollo butterfly, as this is the only plant that their caterpillars feed upon. Well, of course, to start with, an adult Apollo would have to lay its eggs in there ... but that’s just a matter of time.
