J.L. Schellenberg transforms the traditional question about the hiddenness of God into an argument against theism. The chapter takes up Schellenberg’s argument and compares it with Kierkegaard’s pseudonymous writings. By doing so it refers to both the aesthetic stage of existence from Kierkegaard’s Either/Or and Climacus’s distinction between religiosity A and B. Against this backdrop the paper argues that Kierkegaard’s theology of the paradox can be seen as an answer to divine hiddenness and thus to J.L. Schellenberg’s atheism.
