This chapter provides a brief overview of the extent to which digital technologies are currently being put to use in research on early modern translation. It emphasises the groundbreaking work which a number of teams are currently engaged in to create translation databases and introduces the projects which will be presented more fully in later chapters. The chapter also includes reflections on possible avenues for research in the future. It recognises that databases remain a desideratum, including perhaps an ‘umbrella’ database of early modern translations on a European scale. The chapter also suggests that researchers could more fully exploit text analysis tools and methods to study early modern translations, such as part-of-speech tagging, topic modelling and stylometry.

摘要
