The term “digital leadership” encompasses various concepts that arise from the recursive interaction between leaders/leadership and modern information and communication technology (ICT). This chapter focuses on virtual leadership (when human leaders exercise their leadership functions via ICT) and automated leadership (when leadership functions are no longer performed by human leaders, but by ICT) and discusses their advantages and disadvantages as well as associated opportunities and risks.
