The complex conditions in high-risk organizations pose special challenges for leadership. This chapter first illuminates the prerequisites for successful operational leadership and presents empirical findings on transformational leadership and important nontechnical skills of leaders. The recommendations for action explain which attitudes of team members leaders should pay attention to and which leadership trainings are effective. Finally, insights into one’s own organization can be gained using two checklists.
