Decisions are an integral part of the daily work of employees. Therefore, it is important that they always have the organization’s best interest in mind. However, the reality often looks different and employees make decisions that primarily protect themselves personally in case the desired result does not occur. In this chapter, we first explain the organizational phenomenon of these so-called “defensive decisions” and describe their possible causes and countermeasures. From this, we derive concrete recommendations for action with the help of which managers can reduce the occurrence of this type of decision. At the end of this chapter, we present a guide for a workshop that can promote the courage for constructive decisions and counteract a blame culture.

摘要
