The following chapters will explain that careful planning of interventions—especially in complicated initial situations—can be as helpful as in the management of complications. To expand their surgical spectrum, every surgeon should continuously inform themselves about innovations and try to observe experienced colleagues in the operating room. In this context, ophthalmic surgical activity in developing countries presents a particular challenge and a great wealth of experience.
