The intravitreal operative drug administration is the most frequently performed intraocular procedure in Germany and currently surpasses the number of cataract surgeries [8]. Due to the risk of endophthalmitis after intravitreal injections, special attention must be paid to maintaining sterility when learning the surgical technique. According to the revised training regulations, a specialist candidate is required to perform 25 intravitreal injections [3]. This chapter aims to provide the aspiring surgeon with a guide for preparing for the first injection.
