In the author’s perception, there is still a great lack of didactic material for the slit lamp, not only for the documentation of fundus findings, but also for the biomicroscopy of the fundus. Even retinological textbooks only touch on these chapters marginally. The main intention of this book chapter is to compile these basics. Anyone who objects that there are now so many other high-quality methods for image analysis of the fundus, only insufficiently takes into account the situation of the “lone fighter” in the individual practice. Because here, only limited resources are available, and consequently, there is an interest in a methodology that has been stable for decades.
