Cognitive-Behavioral Individual Therapy for Patients with Persistent Somatic Symptoms, Somatoform Disorders, and Somatic Symptom Disorders: Basics and Initial Phase
摘要
First of all, important prerequisites must be established so that psychotherapy can be successful. To this end, the first section of this chapter gives you an introduction to the structure and a brief overview of the modules of the individual therapy. Suggestions are also given on how to deviate from the manualized approach or how to combine modules depending on the patient’s problem focus. In the second section, important information is provided for the design of the initial therapy phase. The focus is on clarifying therapy expectations, dealing with patients’ somatic symptom attributions, communicating the basic principles of cognitive behavior therapy, important questions for the initial interview, clarifying the indication of cognitive behavior therapy for the patient and cooperation with the patient’s primary care physician. The chapter is rounded off with an exemplary behavioral analysis to provide orientation for drawing up a therapy plan.
