Prolegomena on a ‘Literary Intersectionality’—In Combination with Historically Oriented Translation Studies and an Example Based on Hans Staden’s Warhaftige Historia (1557)
摘要
My contribution pursues two goals. First, I will submit a methodological proposal for how the intersectionality concept can be made productive for the analysis of premodern literature, especially literature of the Early Modern period. Secondly, I will supplement these abstract theoretical deliberations with the analysis of a concrete example to illustrate the added value of this analytical approach. In the latter context, the link to theorems of historically oriented Translation Studies will play a special role. The first account written in German of a journey to America, Hans Staden’s Warhaftige Historia—which can be regarded as a relevant example of Early Modern travel literature—is my object of study.
