To ensure that a disease (or problem) can be treated successfully, it has to be diagnosed correctly. Accordingly, diagnostics play an important role in medicine and other areas where a correct classification is required, such as biology or technology. In the following, the nomenclature from medicine is used, but with simple adaptations (e.g., subject or object instead of a person), the explanations are transferable to other disciplines.
