Post-growth Economics
摘要
Post-growth economics is a sub-discipline of economics that is critical of growth and oriented towards the laws of thermodynamics. Its focus is on growth constraints and a future concept for an economy within ecological limits, referred to as post-growth economy. Based on the finding that a decoupling of economic growth from environmental damage cannot be achieved by means of technical innovations and that the current level of pollution is not sustainable, the only way out for northern consumer societies is a reduction of industrial output, which in turn presupposes changed lifestyles and supply patterns. In addition to a cultural change towards sufficiency, the latter comprise three levels in particular: Local subsistence, a regional economy and a much downsized residual industry. In order to cushion the reductive transformation socially, especially to achieve full employment, a redistribution of the reduced working hours is necessary. Twenty hours of weekly working time, which serve as the basis for a reduced monetary income, can be supplemented by another 20 hours of self-sufficiency work. Among other things, self-production, extension of useful life and sharing concepts help to continue to be able to use modern consumption functions and at the same time to realize a higher degree of economic autonomy. Companies can support this development by contributing in many ways to production-free satisfaction of needs.
