Joint prostheses
摘要
This chapter presents the different joint prostheses in imaging. Joint prostheses are implants for the permanent replacement of a joint. There exists a multitude of different designs from various manufacturers. Initially, a distinction can be made between hemi-prostheses and total endoprostheses, and further between cemented and non-cemented prostheses. The prosthetic materials are described. In detail, hip, knee, and shoulder prostheses, as well as rarer prostheses such as elbow prostheses and prostheses of the upper ankle joint and their representation in radiological diagnostics using numerous X-ray and CT images are presented.
