In light of the growing demand for AI skills across diverse professional sectors (Rott et al., 2022) and the ongoing lack of consensus regarding the value of implementing adaptive learning technologies in authentic educational settings (Kabudi et al., 2021; Özyurt & Özyurt, 2015; Zhang & Aslan, 2021), the findings of this study highlight the significant potential of adaptive learning systems to enhance AI literacy among learners in VET and CVET settings. Accommodating learners’ prior knowledge in AI and leveraging system features of individualization and adaptivity that enable one-to-one personalized instruction at scale significantly contribute to shaping AI learning outcomes.
