How to Identify Misconceptions in the Feedback Module of an ITS

There are different approaches to the design of the feedback module aiming to give good, immediate, helpful responses to the user of the tutoring system. In this chapter, I will briefly describe some commonly used types of error feedback that are part of many ITS, most notably error libraries, before analyzing the method of Algorithmic Debugging itself and its application to the field of tutoring systems. This will be laid out in more detail as my own approach builds on this technique though I use a simplified and adapted version which fits the requirements of my chemistry use case better (see Chap. 6).
