This chapter will offer a discussion of the results examined in the previous chapters, including possible explanations and comparisons to previous studies. This chapter will not follow the approach, which was applied until now, to divide the results into indirectness, politeness and production, but will instead combine all results into patterns and try to find common explanations. I will start by discussing the overall similarities between English and German.
