This study examines the handling of active bribery offenses and the associated anti-corruption mechanisms through China’s judicial practice. Drawing on 3,886 publicly released court judgments, which represent only the visible portion of a much broader phenomenon. Although organizational bribery constitutes only one manifestation of corruption and represents a relatively small proportion of all corruption cases, the empirical evidence allows this study to identify six characteristic mechanisms through which unit bribery occurs in China.

摘要

This study examines the handling of active bribery offenses and the associated anti-corruption mechanisms through China’s judicial practice. Drawing on 3,886 publicly released court judgments, which represent only the visible portion of a much broader phenomenon. Although organizational bribery constitutes only one manifestation of corruption and represents a relatively small proportion of all corruption cases, the empirical evidence allows this study to identify six characteristic mechanisms through which unit bribery occurs in China.
