The previous chapter outlined key definitions of corruption and systemic corruption, and summarized major scholarly approaches to understanding how corruption becomes embedded within organizational settings. One important implication of this literature is that systemic corruption often manifests within organizational environments and operates as a form of criminal behavior. Building on this insight, the present chapter introduces the theoretical foundations and core characteristics of organizational crime.
