This chapter examines the evolving regional context following the onset of the Russian–Ukrainian war in February 2022. It begins with a brief overview of the origins and development of the Ukrainian conflict, starting from the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the subsequent hybrid war between Russia and Ukraine. Building on this background, the chapter then turns to the political landscape in Armenia, including Armenia–Azerbaijan relations, recent advances in EU–Armenia cooperation, and the international community’s responses to these developments.
