Support Group for Wives and Female Family Members of Former Terror Convicts

Studies showed that spouses of ex-terrorists deal with difficult situations because they sometimes do not know about their husbands’ extreme views until they are arrested. They must deal with shame and uncertainty as a result of this revelation, which causes significant adjustments. This study looks at how their individual experiences influenced the creation of the support organization FOSPETA (Forum Support Perempuan Tangguh), which promotes empowerment and resilience. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) is used in the study to examine the challenges these women encounter and how they create a solid, encouraging group. The study gains depth from the author’s firsthand engagement in the forum’s establishment. Result shows how the interconnected from the empowering process to the social implications and preventing of extremism. In addition, sisterhood within FOSPETA also supports members emotionally and helps them endure hardship. Eventually, this study emphasizes the vital role that support group-based interventions play in preventing violent extremism.
