This chapter presents Michel Foucault’s text “The Order of Discourse” and discusses its status as a key work in communication studies. In it, Foucault formulates his ideas on the linkage of discourses and the knowledge orders produced in them with power relations. This makes the short text an important reference for the analysis of discursive practices and the strategies used to legitimize the interpretations and positions established therein. After a brief outline of Foucault’s intellectual contribution, the work is first presented in its basic features. This is followed by its positioning in the context of Foucault’s thought. Finally, the discussion focuses on how his considerations were incorporated into media analysis and communication research.

摘要
